The other knobs on the MK2 are also tweaked a bit as they not feel much tighter than the ones on the old version. This way you know how much you are adjusting the setting. While the change may be a personal preference, almost all users will appreciate that the new knob clicks as you move it. Whereas the original Maschine has 3 separate knobs to control the volume, swing, and tempo, the new Maschine MK2 has a single knob and three buttons that let you toggle which feature it controls. Furthermore, the settings buttons on the left side of the unit also now “click” when you push them so you know when the press has registered. It makes long sessions on the Maschine much easier on the hands. We are very pleased to say that the pads on the MK2 are much more sensitive and don’t require as much force to register a louder sound.

Both versions of MASCHINE still come with a comprehensive sound library with more than 6GB of samples, and KOMPLETE ELEMENTS, which consists of more than 1,000 synthesizer sounds. New software updates in MASCHINE 1.8 add time stretching and pitch-shifting capabilities, and three new effects: Transient Master, Tape and Tube Saturator, as well as numerous workflow improvements throughout the system. A new Host Transport Control capability enables you to use your MASCHINE to control the transport in your DAW. Both models are available in either black or white. There are a number of updates that are available on both the new MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO.
The new pads also offer improved touch sensitivity over the previous generation. The new multi-colored pads greatly increase the amount of visual feedback and improve the already highly regarded workflow of these products. While this succeeded in looking really cool, the limitation of only having a single color severely capped the amount of information that could be shared between user and system. The pads on the original MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO only glowed with a single orange hue. Various colors can be assigned to sounds, patterns, groups and scenes, so for example, you can assign a specific color to all of your kick drums, creating a more fluid interaction between player and instrument.
